Varsity downs
Post 320; wins regional
Post 22
starting pitcher J.J. Johnson held a potent
hitting Post 320 lineup in check, earning
the win as Post 22 won the 3A Regional
title, 7-2, over Post 320 Friday afternoon
at Hyde Stadium.
Post 22 wasted
no time scoring in the top of the first
inning.
Parker Sullivan
led the game off with a hard hit single that
set the tone for Post 22. Sam Wolff and Dana
Hill walked to load the bases and Jarrett
Jensen was hit by a pitch to force the first
run across.
The hard hats
added another two runs in the third inning
when Steven Ficken lined a double into the
right-center field gap, scoring two runs and
giving Post 22 a 3-0 lead.
The score was 3-1 until the seventh inning
when Post 22 exploded for three unearned
runs after taking advantage of two Post 320
errors.
Post 320 scored a run in the bottom of the
inning, but left the bases loaded, thwarting
any possibility of a big inning and a
comeback.
Post 22 added one insurance run in the
eighth.
Kolton Emery came in and retired six
straight hitters to end the game, giving
Post 22 the victory.
Post 22 will
play Watertown in the first round of the
State Championship Tournament, Wednesday at
Aberdeen's Fossum Field. |
